Pink footed geese! These magnificent birds can be seen in many parks in Reykjavik, walking fearless in residential areas and streets.  There is a global population of about 280.000 birds and they are migratory: they live in Iceland, Greenland and Svalbard and are wintering in Britain, Netherlands and Denmark.

This is 10:20 a.m. In the corner where  Laugavegur (the central/main street of the city center)  meets  Frakkastigur (a street named by the French Hospital that still stands there, which was built by France for the many French sailors who fell sick while fishing cod in Icelandic waters). Reykjavik wakes up late all year round, even later in winter!
